🔱 Ramayana – Episode 4 The Return to Ayodhya & The First Call of Destiny

🌸 The Princes Return to Ayodhya

Years after discipline shaped them in the forest hermitage of Vashistha, the four princes returned.

Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana, and Shatrughna stepped once again into the golden gates of Ayodhya.

The city erupted in joy.

Flowers rained from rooftops.
Conches echoed.
The streets shimmered with celebration.

They had left as boys.

They returned as warriors, scholars, and men of dharma.

👑 The Mothers’ Tears

In the palace, three hearts trembled.

Queen Kaushalya could not immediately step forward.

So radiant was Ram’s presence that she feared her own gaze might cast an unintended shadow upon him.

Queen Kaikeyi’s eyes sparkled with pride.

Sumitra’s heart overflowed as Lakshman and Shatrughna bowed at her feet.

When the brothers sat for their first royal meal after years—

The queens fussed over them.

“You have grown thin!”
“Did the Gurukul feed you properly?”

King Dasharatha smiled as laughter filled the palace.

Yet beneath the joy, destiny waited.

🌲 In the Forest – A Sage in Distress

Far from Ayodhya, in a sacred forest hermitage—

The great sage Vishwamitra performed powerful yagnas.

But each time the sacred fire rose—

Demons attacked.

Subahu.
Maricha.

Acting under the shadow of Ravana.

They hurled flesh and blood into the fire.

Desecrated rituals.

Mocked dharma.

The forest, once vibrant, had become desolate.

Vishwamitra made a decision.

He would go to Ayodhya.

⚖️ The Request That Shook the Court

In Dasharatha’s court, Vishwamitra arrived like a storm wrapped in calm.

The king welcomed him with honor.

“Ask anything, O Sage.”

Vishwamitra’s voice was steady:

“I need Rama.”

The court fell silent.

Dasharatha’s heart froze.

“My Rama? He is but a child!”

“I will send my army. I will go myself!”

But Vishwamitra’s gaze did not shift.

“No army. Only Rama.”

Fear gripped the king.

Ravana’s forces were powerful.

How could a young prince face them?

🕊️ Vashistha Speaks Truth

Then Vashistha rose.

“Do not mistake Rama for ordinary.”

“He is born for a purpose greater than we comprehend.”

“Under Vishwamitra’s guidance, he shall be safe.”

Dasharatha’s resistance melted into surrender.

A father yielded to destiny.

Lakshman stepped forward immediately.

“Where Ram goes, I go.”

Thus began the first journey beyond Ayodhya’s walls.

🌑 The Forest of Terror

The forest grew darker as they advanced.

Vishwamitra spoke:

“This land was once prosperous.”

“But now it belongs to Tadka.”

Tadka.

A demoness with the strength of a thousand elephants.

Master of illusion.

Her roar shook the trees.

As dusk approached, stones rained from the sky.

Her laughter echoed through the woods.

Ram stood still.

Vishwamitra commanded:

“End this terror.”

Ram hesitated for a fleeting moment.

She was a woman.

But dharma does not bend before form.

When evil rises—

It must be confronted.

With unwavering focus, Ram released his arrow.

The forest fell silent.

Tadka’s reign ended.

🔥 The First Step Toward Destiny

That night, the winds changed.

The earth felt lighter.

Vishwamitra looked upon Ram—not merely as a student—

But as the force that would reshape history.

This was only the beginning.

The demons Subahu and Maricha still awaited.

And beyond them—

Mithila.

A bow.

And a princess named Sita.
